Why does this matter?
At A BETTER SOUTH WALTON, we believe that it is important to incorporate because we want:
- To create a feasible plan for the future growth in our area and protect the 50-foot height limit
- More resources to put into our community’s infrastructure
- Local control over local concerns that affect us
- Greater representation and a stronger voice at the county, regional, state and federal level
- To preserve what we love about our community
Some facts to consider
- We are the only major population center in our county that is NOT incorporated.
- County government is structured to govern rural areas. The proposed Town of South Walton is growing rapidly with greater density and different needs than those north of the Bay.
- We have the largest population in the county but only one of the 5 county commissioners is required to live in South Walton.
